That laser TD pass was great example of you point. He read it right, and hammered the ball right where it needed to be.

Was definitely a presnap read and not a progression, but he read it right and threw a BB.

That touch pass over the runningback's shoulder was probably my next favorite throw of his from the night. Laid it right in there perfectly.

Trey Lance so far this preseason:

He's the most accurate rookie QB when throwing past the sticks.
He also has the most drops (7) by his receivers (that's for all QBs, not just the rookies)

Niners are built to win now, if Lance can adjust to speed of NFL quickly he will be in there soon.

One talking head elsewhere suggested that the WR drops were due to these NFL receivers not yet adjusted to TL's speed of delivery. With JimmyG and the other two QB, the ball did not arrive as soon as it does with TL. He may throw hard, but the ball gets to the WRs before they are ready and have their hands in position -- a function of the 'slow' balls thrown by the other QBs.

He hit his hand on a helmet yesterday. He's only out 7 days so he won't miss a game.

Has San Fran officially named Jimmy G the starter? I know Trey will see some playing time (if healthy) during the season...but if he's not starting we may not try to make that Philly game on 9/19.

More or less although it sounds like they're using the "platoon" system where they'll sprinkle in Lance here and there. Unknown how much he'll actually play
