Maybe I'm crazy, but even with Lance last year, Bison never put the game on Trey's arm. The games he had big passing games were blow outs. The few close games they had, he won games more with his legs than with his arm. Unfortunately Zeb lacks that running ability to add in close games. So Zeb doesn't need to be some gunslinger back there, but since he lacks Trey's running ability they are going to need to find a different way to add that extra something with him in the offense in close games. I have my doubts, but at least this season has something new to worry about.

This is exactly why you need Cam back there. If you don’t need a good arm back there (and for the record, Cam’s arm has looked fine), then why do you need Zeb at all? I honestly see no upside...

I definitely can see it this way too. My guess is we as fans just don't see something the coaches do. Coaches get paid to know their shit and we type our ignorant opinions into the internet for free.

While Cam is a better runner than Zeb (hard not to be) he isn't anywhere close to Trey or even Stick from what we've seen. Maybe Cam just doesn't have enough upside as a runner to offset whatever advantage they are seeing in Zeb overall. NDSU needs a game manager at QB for the time being. With all of Zeb's turnovers he's doing a pretty poor job of that, but the coaches must see something there still.

That’s kind of a contradiction, though, isn’t it? Being a good game manager is not turning the ball over. There is more to it than that, but, like, that’s the FIRST box you check.

I agree on the rest. Clearly there’s something the coaches are seeing that we armchair coaches aren’t.

That's why I have a hard time understanding what the coaches see to offset all the turnovers. Must be something?

Maybe Zeb does stuff we don’t see or understand during the game and maybe during the UN- hammering he made all the right in game calls and put us in the best position to dominate them.

Cam isn’t the thrower than Trey or Sr/Jr Easton Stick were, but he has made two really impressive throws in limited action and I think he is ahead of where Easton was as a freshman. If Miller continues to develop the future is bright.
