I'm not saying any program can't improve, just that JSU is solidly in the put up or shut up category right now. There's uncountable examples of a small number of great players not bringing a team success, and of great coaches bringing a team back from the ashes. We've never played them so I'm all for a single game in Fargo. If they play well we can talk about a home and home. Did you see the other thread about 2022 Sagarin rankings? While preseason polls are worth the paper they're printed on in the digital age, Sagarin dropped JSU over 50 spots from the 2021 final. That's not a good sign.

Depends on how much talent they get. IMHO, how good the worst player on the field is has to be as important as who the best player is. Much of NDSU's success is the ability put in a 2nd stringer without a big drop-off in talent for most positions so the starters can stay fresh through the whole game and long seasons with deep playoff runs.
It's OK to not be OK.

Sagarin isn’t a poll it’s a computer algorithm. We know almost nothing about what the inputs are into its preseason ratings. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong about them. I’m saying there isn’t enough information
for me to have an opinion.

    Give me a moment.

Oh- he has weighted values for seniority and numbers of similar “class-men” remaining together. Same team- higher value than talent. We have known that for a while. NDSU football was why he changed it.

That should tighten up what you have figured out so far.

Oh. And punting makes mathematical sense. Don’t make me attempt to PROVE it to you again. [emoji6]

But it’s all in the weight of RANDOMIZED VARIABLES LIKE THAT.

I mean…. Wake up man. Learn some chaos theory.

    More simply put.

    Are numbers finite?

It’s kind of a glass half full if you believe in FINITE variables and predicted relationships.

    Truth. Answers. Completion.

    Can’t be found in numbers.

    Except for 0 or 1. Alpha and…

Think about that shit for a minute dude.

I think you know that I know Sagarin and Massey are computer based. While nothing's perfect, dropping 50+ spots is most definitely not a good sign. With how active you are in the Sagarin threads I assume you rightfully consider it a pretty good predictor.
If you want to take the angle of being technically correct is the best kind of correct, I didn't actually say Sagarin was a poll. Plus I directly stated preseason polls aren't very good.
Also, JSU is not a good team, at least until they prove otherwise. Burden of proof is on them.
