And I’m old enough to remember when you looked at stars and were less concerned about competing offers……

I like the recruiting base the Bison build. IMO, a lot of their prospects seem to reach their personal goal of getting an offer from a great developmental program, take it and commit. Seems to have worked out alright so far……lots of wins and lots of NFL opportunities

One thing remains the same and that is important to me and that is that we keep winning our head-to-head battles against our direct competition like SDSU, UNI, UND, etc..
And since Chapo reached his dead horse again, I thought tolnabison said it very well here in response to Chapo

I posted the numbers somewhere up in this thread, the recruiting ratings have gone down last few years.

    Beers had good offers
No one else has so far & there's about 8 pwos or partials.

maybe we finish with a bang, but as I posted up top as well, there's only 2-3 Top 20 MN/Wi kids left

Where are these recruiting rankings you speak of?
    Source?
    Link?

Here is what 247 shows for NDSU, but I’m sure there are others:

    2021 - N/A
    2020 - 141
    2019 - 142
    2018 - 134
    2017 - 135
    2016 - 136
    2015 - 132
    2014 - 142

2014 was the 1st year 247 showed enough of NDSU’s recruits to give their National Ranking

2014: our second and third highest rated recruits were Marcus Collins and Brandon Hines...IIRC Hines left after one day of fall camp
2016: top three were Cameron Hackl, Sean Engel, Moses Nyangacha....and Brandon Lund was tied for fourth with several others

I had such high hopes for Marcus Collins. My memory isn't what it used to be, didn't he enroll early? Seemed like a real leader. Career cut short by injury

I believe the discussion at the time he was the first or one of the first to enroll early. He's in the background in the Iowa State celebration in the locker room video. I had high hopes for him too.

yea. 132 down to 141/142 & NA isn't cause for celebration.

got another PWO 2nite, I'm just gonna assume we are out of money and maybe saving 2 full rides.
    1 for Hegerle
1 for Mehki Collins or a top 20 MN/WI receuit.

You are confusing everyone……you claim to not care about star rating anymore, but the Top 20 lists are organized by star rating. So you just led us back in a full circle saying NDSU should recruit these Top 20 list prospects because of their stars.

Let’s take a look at Minnesota first:

Top 14 Minnesota prospects are 3 star, the last 6 are 2 star. There were no 4 or 5 star, no Jalen Suggs in Minny this season.
Of Minnesota’s Top 20 per 247, 8 are committed to P5 plus 2 commits to other FBS.
NDSU has 2 commits from this Top 20 list, 3 star LB Austin Altepeter (13) and 2 star DE Andy Thomsen (17).
    Who is uncommitted?

    #10
    #12
    #16
    #19

#10 Mehki Collins does have a Bison offer, also Iowa State and Kansas State. Can also play college basketball if he so chooses.
Is the Iowa State offer commitable? I don’t know but NDSU continues communication with Collins.

    #16 I’m sure is a fine player/prospect/person but he isn’t showing any offers as a DE/LB.
#19 I’m sure is a fine player/prospect/person but only shows a Jackrabbit PWO offer as an OL.

So NDSU has had DL and OL in camp this summer, offered and got multiple commits at those positions, but you’d rather have the Bison recruiting these other prospects???
    Got it.
