Now that I have a Forum subscription, I read a story of his injury written by Mike McFeely. McFeely blog: Bison football recruit sustains severe spine injury, but can still walk in what coach calls 'a miracle' | INFORUM
For those few, like me, who didn't know the whole story: Andy hit helmet to helmet with another player in practice. He got up, walked to the sidelines, and passed the concussion protocol. His family only went to the emergency room after a family friend in the medical field asked if he was having trouble hearing and he said yes. Once they got to the emergency room, they found the broken vertebrae. His coach (and other sources) say he is expected to make a full recovery after spinal fusion (C5 through C8), but it's going to be a journey... one that I very much want to see include him getting his diploma from NDSU.
Also, honestly, even knowing the gist of the story, my blood ran cold reading about it for the first time.

I was never overly excited about him. (I said this when we offered him.) A 6' 0" DT is very D2. Our current DTs are 6-2 to 6-4 and that's what we've always won with.. This kid is 6-0 and he doesn't look like he has room to grow (he's 280) so he's basically close to his peak now. He's too small to be an olineman except center. Seems like a nice kid who wants to go to med school and maybe he will good player but probably not a stud

I have no idea if it was the case here and I'm guessing neither does Chapo but it is a pretty common occurrence for players to be listed as having offers that are no longer committable because the school has pulled or reduced the offer. An example would be to check out Courtney Eubanks offer list: https://n.rivals.com/content/prospec...hool-interests
IIRC it was a really unique situation with him where the rest of the schools on him thought he was going to Nebraska and by the time it was evident that offer wasn't commitable anymore NDSU swooped in to grab him in the late 2020 signing period when most of his other offers listed on that page had been pulled. Some details in this article from his coach: https://www.inforum.com/bison-media-...uding-Nebraska
