I watched most of this
St Thomas will be 2nd or 3rd in Pioneer year 1. they had a very good defense, offense not so much
NDSU TO FBS. HAVEN'T WE WON ENOUGH?
44-3
Truly a David vs Goliath game. They had some moments in the first half defensively but 105 total yards of offense and averaging less than 1 yard per carry (.8) was expected. No scholarships and even less depth
The game was even more lopsided than our game today vs Towson

I worked Butler game at Taylor. Taylor is in same NAIA conference as Indiana Wesleyan and the schools are only 20 minutes apart. Taylor jumped out to a 14-0 lead but Butler stormed back to a 77-24 victory. Butler travels to St. Thomas next week. They were picked last in Pioneer but they looked pretty good tonight.

Yeah but you really have teams in the Pioneer who care about football and have tradition... and one's who don't. Besides San Diego and St Thomas that's all you really got. St Thomas was already good playing non scholarship. Not much difference between D1 non scholarship and D3 non scholarship. NAIA may be be better. They have 24 scholarships so they are like a weak D2. D2 is probably better than all of them (32 to 36 scholarships) and St Thomas beat a mediocre D2 school by 1 point. They were their 2nd best opponent

This is spot on. I officiated Butler last week and talked with the coach about the conference. He said one of the reasons San Diego does well is they can recruit California talent who wants to stay close to home but doesn't have full scholarships to a D1 school. And San Diego is s nice place to live.
NAIA is closer to D2 also because they have lower academic standards. The successful programs get D1 talent that can't get eligible for NCAA or transfers who can't keep up with NCAA standards.
