When it's third and ten, you can take the milk drinkers and I'll take the whiskey drinkers every time. -Max McGee
“I really thought you had to run the football to control the game,” Erhardt once said. “You had to throw the football to score but had to run the football to win.” - Ron Erhardt
Simple it's 2 things.
1. It buys a few extra weeks for the situation to improve through public effort (lol), treatment improvement/vaccine, or one day just disappearing.
2. It gets everyone used to the idea that the season is gone rather than just going shoulder deep immediately. The same tactic was used at the beginning stages of lockdown. Rather than going full bore right away they added one restriction after another every few days to acclimate the masses to the new normal thereby reducing resistance and complaining.
It sucks, but it's going to happen.
A week ago I said this was going to happen if lakes didn't get off his ass AND DO SOMETHING.
He didn't do something.
He chose not to.
This is his fault.

Some people believe this entire thing is just a game being played by Democrats to make us think it's much worse than it is in an attempt to get Trump out of office. They also feel if the election goes to the Democrats, the virus will mysteriously go away the next day. If that is true, then all post season games will be played.
I don't buy any of that. We'll be getting back into the flu season at that point and more people will be spending more time inside as the weather turns. No matter how good we do between now and September, I expect we'll be in a tougher situation in December/January. I hope I'm wrong.
