I kind of think they were planning to announce something different and had to punt with the non-announcment at the last minute.

I have no idea how a fall season happens, football playing conferences/schools are dropping like flies.
NDSU to the FBS always. In all ways.

I agree with you. Really strange and suspect Ross Uglem had it right, but someone got cold feet. I do think football is still possible, however, as no decision has been made and our conference teams are in a good part of the country for the most part. We have to learn to live with the disease and minimize the risk. Hopefully, a path forward can be found, or we will never see Trey Lance play again for the Herd.

Ditto with the agreement. I wonder if the newly developing situation with the Marlins made some ADs/presidents want to hold off. I bet it also speaks to what some think will now happen at the NCAA meetings next week.

I'm going to expect the worst so I won't be disappointed.

So is NDSU even trying to get a replacement game or two for the 3 non conference games that have been canceled? BYU? Oklahoma State?

Sounds like everyone is in a holding pattern until the big conferences decide what they are going to do in regards to playing football, playing just within conference or having non-conference games as well.

Jeff Culhane tweeted that NDSU has talked to G5 and P5 schools for games.

Guess our so called leaders at NDSU can't speak for themselves?

Maybe it doesn't help negotiations if they starting talking specifics on the record? General nonspecific leaks probably make good business sense.
