There will always be scalping no matter what system is used. There is a price point people will give up their tickets and if you draw supply down, there will be someone trying to figure out what the price is.
Worse case is road warrior becomes someone's suite guest. I'm sure there are connections there.
As far as lottery, and I say this with no clue where cutoffs would be and how I would be personally effected, but I don't think you build a system with priority points over this much time to abandon it. It isn't a fair system, but everyone knows the rules. You spend money and you build up points. You have the most points, you are first in line. You want a better place in line, donate more money. I would hate to see that system replaced because someone thinks it needs to be more fair to everyone.

Loyalty provides some rewards as well. I don't donate a ton of money given our family's financial situation. However, we have had season tickets since the Fargodome opened. I figure that going to games when the Bison were "less than stellar" has provided me some payoff now that the demand for tickets is high.
This is not good if there is no season. NDSU's AD is in better shape then most but it's going to really start hurting if a year goes by with no FB. I don't see how a lot of these other schools AD's are even going to survive. Wonder if there will be some type of bailout proposed.
Coach's salaries and recruiting budgets for the year would take a big hit I'd say. I'm not sure if it's possible/legal but wouldn't surprise me if some schools tried to get out of scholarship commitments as well. Many FCS schools rob from themselves to pay themselves in that regard since they fund athletic scholarships with school funds and student fees.

Join the Green and the Gold Collective to take Bison football to the next level. Starts at $10 a month
The Green and The Gold Collective is excited to announce our #DriveToFive membership campaign. The goal of this campaign is to get to 500 monthly members. Reaching this goal will help us provide financial support to NDSU student athletes, including every returning member of the football team that saw action on the field last year!

You might have to resort to old school.
Get JMU on the schedule.

For those wondering about refunds for the Oregon tickets. They will start the process next week and will credit the card used for the purchase.

When you play football, you gotta like the taste of blood, And 50 percent of the time, it's your blood.
It is characteristic of the unlearned that they are forever proposing something which is old, and because it has recently come to their own attention, supposing it to be new.
