Assuming the tournament even happens(which is a big if at this point), I wonder if the NCAA is considering switching to a modified, non-revenue tourney format. Cancel the current host venues and have the games on the campuses of the 1-4 seeds, sending the losers home immediately. That would be 25% less flights. Also move the first four games to the 1-4 seed sites that they feed into. Then repeat the process a week later, putting the games at the home of the highest surviving seeds. Again, 25% fewer flights than a neutral site. And if the NCAA really wants to go the extra mile, they would hire charter planes so that the teams wouldn't have to go through the airports.

That would be impossible. I'm sure most of these arenas have other events scheduled already.. Concerts, conventions, high school tourneys , etc

Interesting idea. They already do charter planes for the tournament.

Normally yes, but how many of those do you think will actually be happening this late March/early April?

And now with the Fred Hoiberg drama, no way the tourney is held.
