Default Trouble on the Red Turf

I read this article this morning. It does not look good.
I contemplated putting this in the Und thread since their AD left with a deficit at EW

Item of note: Eliminating the athletics department was just one of many suggestions laid out as an "alternative model" for athletics. The others include imposing budget cuts on athletics, eliminating only football, or transitioning to the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, NCAA Division II or Division III.

Seriously? That's a damn shame. I hate those Eagle bastards, but they have a strong fanbase, and I hope they can stay D1.

Wow. That sucks...especially since it is one of the stronger programs.

You're giving the hawkers a lot credit to figure that out.

Read the article. This was a faculty department’s opinion. Probably your typical tenured professor who has never been to sporting event that hates athletics who wants budget cuts to athletics but sees nothing wrong with their 150,000/year salary.

True, but this has to really hurt recruiting.

Lol. Agreed. But seriously, this is just another concerning development at our level of football. By the time we get off this sinking ship, there will be no lifeboat seats left.
I don't care what Jim says. That is not the real Ben Franklin. I'm 99% certain.

Shame on you for telling the truth. Don't expect overpriced increasingly irrelevant university professors to look in the mirror for the first time ever. If they eliminated the athletic department where would the savings go? Any guesses?
