If Trey doesn't declare next year but still has a good year and still has the hype (I know, small chance), what are the odds of him being considered for the Heisman the following year. Seriously.

In around 2001 or so, the Ducks had Joey Harrington coming back. There was tremendous hype, particularly locally. During fall camp, some of the boosters (actually, I think Nike) put together a campaign, including a gigantic billboard in NYC, I think across from the Garden. While he ended up not winning it because of his on/off season, the press was very, very good for the UofO.

If this is a possibility, I'll gladly donate to the cause. That would be an amazing amount of press for the university.
I'd say zero. No way an FCS player is ever seriously considered for the Heisman. The FBS crowd would lose their collective minds.

    3 words. Steve McNair.

He was third in voting behind Rashaan Salaam and Ki-Jana Carter, who were both ridiculous college players as well.
    Insert something clever here...

It would probably be received somewhat similar to UCF claiming the national championship, although more tame.

It would both look ridiculous to most (accurate or not) but also generate incredible publicity. It would turn the corner from ESPN talking about NDSU to people having their own person to person conversations about NDSU.

Edit- I love the idea, btw

Think it would be hard for him to have the numbers to be considered but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility. Steve McNair finished 3rd in 1994 but he put up over 5,000 yards and damn near 50 TDs.

He also had 936 rushing yards that season.

I would say Trey has a chance. ESPN was pushing him right away last season with their Nissan Heisman House Poll, where Trey finished fourth overall by fans: http://promo.espn.com/espn/contests/...man/2019/index

This. He's never going to put up the numbers in NDSUs offense to overcome the FCS label to generate that kind of hype. If I'm wrong I'll happily eat my words.

So you're saying we need to bench our defensive starters, in order to force more shootouts.

Gordie Lockbaum finished 5th and 3rd in Heisman voting in 86 and 87.

Beat Oregon and he could be a finalist.
