Using jets as example. Have Sam Darnold. But do you take Trey Lance due to his potential? Then mentioned Trey in same sentence as Patrick Mahomes in regards to potential.

Probably means too 5 pick versus Mcshay and others guys current mocks in the 15 range

    McShay Update- Top 50 prospects.

    9. Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State*
    HT: 6-3 | WT: 224 | Grade: 91

Don't sleep on this FCS signal-caller. Lance has size and toughness at the quarterback position. Last season, he didn't throw a single interception, picked up 1,100 rushing yards and combined for 42 scores in all. He has only one career 300-plus-passing-yard game, and we haven't seen him in action against an FBS foe. But he is effective dropping from under center and selling play-action, and his downfield touch is strong, despite some inconsistent placement on shorter throws. Lance will get a showcase of sorts when NDSU faces Central Arkansas in early October.

    Listed above him
    1. Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson*
    HT: 6-foot-6 | WT: 220 | Grade: 97

    2. Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon*
    HT: 6-6 | WT: 330 | Grade: 93

    3. Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama*
    HT: 6-2 | WT: 206 | Grade: 93

    4. Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU*
    HT: 6-0 | WT: 208 | Grade: 93

    5. Micah Parsons, ILB, Penn State*
    HT: 6-3 | WT: 244 | Grade: 92

    6. Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State*
    HT: 6-3 | WT: 228 | Grade: 92

    7. Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota*
    HT: 6-2 | WT: 213 | Grade: 92

    8. DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
    HT: 6-0 | WT: 170 | Grade: 92

    Another note from same article

    21. Jabril Cox, ILB, LSU
    HT: 6-3 | WT: 229 | Grade: 88

A rangy run defender with decent closing speed, Cox is smooth in coverage and reads the QB well in underneath zone defense. He flashes stopping power as a run defender, but he needs improvement in getting off blocks. He transferred in from North Dakota State this season and has high-end upside at the next level.

He also has Dillon Radunz just off the top 50 at #54 (you can see him in the position rankings at the end of the article).

    8. Las Vegas Raiders - Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State

If Jon Gruden decides he's had enough of Derek Carr after three years together, the Raiders will run to the podium to select Lance at No. 8. The North Dakota State star may not have the FBS resumes of Lawrence or Fields, but his pure talent will definitely appeal to Gruden. An exciting young quarterback seems like a perfect way for the Raiders to really take off in Las Vegas.

if NDSU is truly only playing 1 game this fall.

wouldn't it be wiser for Trey to come out before (like now) and declare he is leaving after this to train then he can play loose Oct 3

or after the game in a press conference setting.

or since he's NOT a senior he will wait until after finishing this semester in December?

Well its here.. Lets Enjoy Trey Lance this saturday for the final time. Can't wait to watch him sling it around!!!

300+ yards & 4 tds and 100+ rushing ... I hope that NDSU coaches DO go out of their way to crank up his stat line!!!
