Lateral play was a ref error. Should’ve at least let it play out and then review it. Replay would’ve likely showed a backward pass.

One problem is that Watson clearly lets the ball go after the whistle. If it was not blown dead, there is no guarantee that ISUr recovers that.

I’d have to rewatch it, but I could’ve sworn that in live action Watson let it go and that may have prompted the whistle, not the other way around.
