I know you are kidding, but it put Easton in a difficult position. He should have been able to attend the ceremony without it taking away from his game preparation.
They could hold it a week after the game or they could forego the ceremony entirely and just announce it like they do many other awards.

Easton was busy with much more important matters immediately after his appearance in the Natty. If you held the ceremony in May or June he might have had time for it, but why bother.

So yes, just announce the winner and forego the ceremony nonsense.

For the sake of controversy, Trey did not unanimously win.

2 fourth place votes

Nine ballots did not include Trey Lance in their top 5. Some voters really need to have their privileges revoked. I could maybe understand some guys placing Undercuffler above Lance, but beyond that, I’m just not sure I could make a semi-valid argument about anyone else. Anyone who didn’t have him in the top 5 either needs their eyes checked or they need to seriously rethink their voting strategy.

Congrats to Trey though. Incredible freshman season so far. He's making plays while still not pressing. Remarkable decision making for a first year starter.
