How much money would come to NDSU via conference affiliation (bowl affiliation, tv contracts, etc)? How much money in non-conference games could NDSU make? How many more scholarships (and how much) are necessary? How much do we spend in football travel now vs. with the AAC.... These are all things that may or may not be barriers but no one know because the sanctioned study isn't done.
You don't need a study to figure these things out. Just compare NDSU's budget with those in the AAC then add even more for additional travel expenses because NDSU would be a huge outlier. The closest school is 800+ miles away! It's so ridiculous why even bring it up?

I have no idea if we are fully funded in terms of scholarships regarding women's sports; I assume we are (title IX and all that); what would concern me more is whether or not NDSU would have to add women sports. I am not well versed in NCAA regs.

AAC is a step up from MAC and MTN West. Not even plausible. Theyd add a CUSA member first.

Because it’s fun. Nothing more than to speculate. Not everything has to be so serious. What if’s and buts can be fun without having the hummer of Thor brought down on you for suggesting something fun.

    More money for:
    1. 22 football scholarships
    2. At least 22 more womens scholarships which means more sports which means more facilities, coaching salaries, travel expenses, etc.
    3. Higher coaching salaries for the football program which would mean higher coaching salaries across the board unless you want a title IX lawsuit
    4. Football facility upgrades more then likely including a new stadium
    5. Home game payouts
    6. Away game travel budgets

    Just to name a few.

Dont know what NDSU's athletic budget is, but Air Force's is a little north of $50M. Im not sure if there is relevance to that or not, but that seems to me like it would be a good measuring stick. Now, how much of that is internal vs external revenue is also a question mark...
This is not 'Nam. This is Bisonville. There are rules here.

5 away games per year. How is it significantly more expensive than flying to Youngstown, Macomb, Normal, Terre Haute, Cedar Falls, Springfield, or Carbondale? Plus being in that conference will garner a bigger payout when playing a p5.

Are we not talking Football only? All other sports would be the same plus whatever more needed to fund the title9 stuff.

We would also have to pay more for someone to come to play us. Probably wouldn’t have to pay what an FBS school pays us but we’d probably have to pay in the $400k range for an fcs school

The lowest AAC budget is USF at about $50M. NDSU is around $28M so you'd need nearly double just to be a bottom feeder in the conference. Not to mention trying to get student fees increased to support this would be like trying to get a politician to tell the truth!
