My god, that's a long way to travel for a game. I bet they'll both lose next week.

On the broadcast they said they have a mandatory 30 minute delay once lightning is within 8 miles. Then if there is a strike within that radius before the 30 minute timer expires they reset the timer to 30. Repeat until a 30 minute period sans lightning is observed. Could be a long night there.

In the meantime I hope Coach Mess can light a fire under his offense. Prior to the delay they had yet to notch a first down.

We've had a few of these in Ames in recent years. Two weeks ago, during the second delay, we could see lightning in all four directions. Pretty scary. First time that I've been at a game where I really thought the evacuation was necessary . . . as if the parking lot was really all that much safer.
