In general I think the selection committee does a better job that they get credit for and their job is a lot harder than most people think but they could also do themselves some favors by being a little more consistent with their selection criteria. The biggest issues are due to not doing a full seeding and regionalization. IMHO that's what leads to the unbalanced brackets and the committee having an excuse that their hands are tied because they need to follow those rules.

The biggest issue is that they seed the wrong teams.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

But it wouldn't be fair if every conference wasn't represented with a seeded team!

Just curious what have been the worst examples of this in the past? I'm guessing JSU ever being seeded

For JSU specifically, or just seeding in general? Last years' bracket was pretty awful if you ask me.

Chalk may be boring but it's exactly what a committees goal should be.

All 8 seeded teams won their first game last year.

Jackoff State was ranked #1 in 2015 and made the natty game. But the next year they were #3 ranked and lost in the second round to unseeded YSU. I think that was pretty bad. I am sure there are some more recent examples as well.

I think we can all agree that Southern Speed will now be considered when seeding the bracket.
