In 83 the end of the 82 season was mentioned by several players, almost seemed like it was equivalent of the 2010 EWU game and it sorta seemed like it drove our guys all through 83 to meet up with Davis and even the score. They did and won the Natty after that.

EDIT: I see Tony already summed that game for me.
Was that Robert Blakely, the receiver?

I don’t get the why everyone thinks that they are “faster” than NDSU. Where does this come from?

I always like when they say “you’ve never seen such and such a unit as ours”. Meanwhile the stats indicate that our defense, offense etc is better than theirs and is who we practice against M-F. Funny.
    Don't believe everything you think.

Well, in the last 8 years we have beat Southern and Eastern speed multiple times, guess we truly get to add West coast to it now

I think about this a lot. Something we see with almost every team. Some of it likely comes from teams admitting that NDSU has a pronounced size advantage on the lines. I often see Bison fans head to opponents boards and lead off conversation with exactly this.

I would bet that their natural response is to counteract that with anything they can come up with that might provide a competitive advantage for them. Since size differences are often evident in listed stats, they counter with speed. The “okay, our guys are smaller, but they’re going to be much faster” rationalization.

It’s obviosuly unfounded and difficult to assess with the “eye test” from watching games, but we must assume that bigger guys are going to be slower than smaller guys and thus there lies a way they can purport to have an advantage.
