Cooper Kupp made our DB's look pedestrian for half a game.

Yes but can you remember a team as a whole, OL thru the LBs on a team that we had faced and thought “wow we can not compete with this kind of speed”?

I am seeing mentions of their speed versus our power on their forum. I guess, "here we go again.". Cal speed a thing?

Kansas State and Iowa certainly had the upper hand. 2013 Georgia Southern definitely matched us. Other than that...

Craig Haley’s 5 preseason picks for Walter Payton Award favorites included Cal Davis QB Jake Maier:

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/athlons...football%3famp

    Jake Maier, UC Davis
    QB, R-Sr., 6-0, 200

    2018 Statistics: 364-for-557 (65.4 percent), 34 TDs, 10 INTs; 3 rushing TDs (13 games)

The 2018 Big Sky offensive player of the year ranked No. 1 in the FCS in passing attempts (557), second in completions (364) and touchdown passes (34), and third in passing yards (3,931) while UC Davis posted its best FCS season. Non-conference games against Cal and North Dakota State can be huge for his Payton candidacy.
Cal Berkeley #s for Jake Maier -
    19 completions, 37 attempts, 173 yards, 0 TD’s, 0 Int, long of 27 yards, 2 sacks

It was a “preseason” watchlist, so Lance was not a known entity at that time.
