Lol... people keep saying that, and JMU probably actually believes that they are on the same level as us this decade. The funny thing is, they're not even the second best team in the subdivision this decade:

    Since 2010 (not including 2019):

    #1 NDSU:
    Regular Season Record: 89-11 (0.8900)
    Playoff Berths: 9
    Playoff Record: 33-2 (0.9429)
    Championship appearances: 7
    Championships won: 7

    #2 EWU:
    Regular Season Record: 77-25 (0.7549)
    Playoff Berths: 6
    Playoff Record: 14-5 (0.7368)
    Championship appearances: 2
    Championships won: 1

    #3 JMU:
    Regular Season Record: 73-28 (0.7228)
    Playoff Berths: 6
    Playoff Record: 9-5 (0.6429)
    Championship appearances: 2
    Championships won: 1

You could make an argument they aren't even #3.

    SHSU:
    Regular Season Record: 76-25 (0.7525)
    Playoff Berths: 7
    Playoff Record: 16-7 (0.6957)
    Championship appearances: 2
    Championships won: 0

So it's not exactly easy to pass on them either with those guys coming off the edges.

Radunz and Volson, who've given up 0.5 sacks in 446 combined dropbacks this year, against those two DEs who have combined for 22 sacks and 43 TFLs would be quite the individual matchups. Unstoppable force meets immovable object.
They are both finalists for the Buck Buchanan award. Of the two Hero Sports Guys who run the Podcast; Herder voted one second, McLaughlin voted one DE #1 and the other #4.

If we both make it to Frisco, I anticipate a really good game.

SHSU has the ultimate "what if" scenario. It reminds me of a thread I came across on the USD board a few years ago. They were talking about "The Greatest USD team of all time". Most of them picked the 1986 USD team that went to the National Championship game... Unfortunately for them, NDSU probably had their best D2 football team of all time the same year. Dumb luck...

As fans we really need to appreciate what we have, and NDSU's ability to "close the deal" when they get the opportunity.

I get that and I do think that JMU is probably the #2-3 team but I am mostly poking holes in the idea that when teams don't pay each other or the same competition or even the same level of competition, stats is not an accurate way to compare two teams. Remember we played the best defense in the country last year when Colgate came to town.

They came into the Dome that year red hot on creating turnovers. We were lucky to get past that one.

Remember when NDSU played JMU in the 2017 natty? Their only common opponent that year was SDSU who NDSU lost to by 2 TDs and who JMU beat by pretty much infinity. Common opponents isn't any better of a gauge than stats are. That's why they play the games.

The nice thing about stats is they take into account every game so you can see tendencies beyond just what happened in a game or two. Bottom line is JMU has a better run defense this year than NDSU does. If you want to write off the fact that NDSU has given up double the rushing yards per game that JMU has given up as just due to competition level you're really reaching in my estimation.

Wow, now THAT is dominance #DukesDecade
    1. The FCS was the Best option for NDSU for a very long time.
    2. As a general rule- the FCS sucks at football and has proven that is not committed to football at all.
    3. It's time to go FBS
