Default Best college basketball programs since 1997 according to Kenpom

First of all, NDSU is not #10. Lol.

Ken goes back to 1997 because that's when his data starts. Recent seasons are given more weight than earlier. This ranking is more about perception than anything else, so conference affiliation matters. A team's score is an 85/15 split between team and conference. The ranking also includes the last 10 years of RSCI ratings, which are recruiting class rankings.

Now the ranking is supposed to be behind his paywall, so I'm not going to post it, but for some reason you can access it if you click the link from his twitter post announcing it was available.

    Highlights:
NDSU is way above where I expected at 140(of 353).
NDSU is the top Summit team (also above all teams that have left the Summit since NDSU joined)
NDSU's best season was 61, worst was 242
SDSU is a little behind the Bison at 149(best 61, worst 319)
    UND is sitting at 292

I was able to do a crude conference ranking using simple mean. Here are some notable related to NDSU.

    8 MWC
    11 MVC
    12 MAC
    14 Horizon
    20 Summit
    22 Big Sky
    23 WAC

Really surprising that we’re that highly ranked with so many years being DII.

Great to be ahead of SDSU as well.
