    Default Potential Semi-final game

This is getting the cart before the horse. But if NDSU and UND both win this weekend, where would the semi-final game between them be played?

Neither team is seeded and, as I understand it, there is no bidding process for home playoff sites this year. Would site selection be based on regular-season results? If so, who does that favor? UND has a better winning percentage and fewer losses, but NDSU has more wins and beat UND rather handily head to head. The polls are split: NDSU is ahead in the STATS poll (6 vs 7), while UND is ahead in the coach's poll (again 6 to 7). Attendance would seem to favor the FargoDome over Alerus.

OK, strike the NDSU vs UND angle and change the question to "what happens if two unseeded teams meet in the playoffs?" It could happen on the other side of the bracket also. There must be some procedure for deciding who gets the home field...what is it?

Then the venue that would generate the most potential revenue for the NCAA wins... same concept in the end.

Was there no bidding process this year, or just no minimum bids? I honestly don't know. I heard no minimum bids earlier in the season, but that doesn't mean they didn't get rid of the bidding completely later on when they decided to go to a fixed number of predetermined sites.

The wording in the INFORUM article below is "the minimum guarantee was removed."

So, whoever bids the highest gets the game. The bid obviously would be much smaller than usual.
