Wonder why the Gophers waited so long?
Would have been nice if they were the 1st Big Ten team to offer, let alone the 1st P6 team, as they have had trouble recruiting in-state.

Gophers do have a 2021 commit from 4 star 6’ 11” Treyton Thompson, previously of Alexandria. (currently La Lumiere School (La Porte, IN)
Do you get a cupcake for offering first?? His value has went up, thus the major schools offering.

Uhmm, instead of a cupcake you might get an early commit......
    Like the aforementioned Treyton Thompson.
But if you never take the shot...

One of the hottest 2021 names in Minnesota Will Tschetter is putting on a good show in front of about 30 D1 coaches including offered NDSU, UNI and Milwaukee. Two threes, three aggressive rim finishes
    @MN_BCA
So as Tschetter had major recruiting helium last year, along came additional offers - Northern Iowa, Colorado State, Wyoming, Loyola and recently Arkansas among them. Tschetter has since risen in prospect rankings, Rivals having him at #2 in Minnesota’s class of ‘21.
Would have been nice if the Gophers had recognized this earlier and been the 1st Big 10, just mho. Do you prefer Minnesota follow in offering in-state standouts? Or take the lead?
As I mentioned above, they have not done that great lately with in-state recruits.
IIRC Tschetter went off for 33 ppg before the season ended.
As it looks now, Pitino had to react to what Nebraska and Michigan were doing. Will be interested to read more of Tschetter’s story as the recruiting info comes out.

Having rambled on about all that, if you want to bring insight as to why he should not have been offered, great - would be interested in reading it. Perhaps Thompson and Tschetter would not match well in the same lineup??? Waiting on Chet Holmgren? Or whatever reason?

Minnesota also wasn't the first big school to offer Thompson though.... Just because you get an early verbal commitment with an early offer doesn't really mean much I also certainly hope Minnesota isn't competing against NDSU for recruits in college basketball though, if that is the case they are in deep trouble.

Well I mean since 2009 we do have just as many NCAA tournament bids as they do I mean assuming they wouldn't have made a run in the Big Ten tourney this year and made the dance as well, then they'd have one more than us.

Iowa offers in Minnesota now include Andrew Morgan of Waseca and Will Tschetter of Stewartville, also G Eli King of Caledonia. Andrew Morgan is a 6’ 8” PF that NDSU gave an early offer. Iowa is Morgan’s 1st P6 offer, also has SDSU and Appalachian State offers.

There is another Zac Johnson to recruit

Interesting Recruit: Got Depaul offer and MAC & MVC Offers in 2018/2019... but now in 2020 offered by WIU/NDSU did he get hurt?

after a quick google search, i’m not seeing anything that would explain his recruitment offers/timeline from 2018/2019 to now.
the depaul offer came almost two years ago BUT the offer was reaffirmed this past friday.
