So how was it? Did you have practice round or tournament round tickets?

The Villages, Florida recently completed the Shallow Creek Country Club w/Boosters Restaurant and is simultaneously

constructing seven new golf courses in and around the new town square of Eastport.

They are also building a new driving range and golf academy. Golf at the executive, pitch-and-putt and putting courses is free for residents. Residents

automatically become members of the country clubs and championship courses and there are no dues but there is a fee to golf.

The Rocket Mortgage Classic is currently underway in Motown. For this year it featured a fifteen year old amateur who stands an imposing 5' 7" tall and weighs in at 120 lbs and who averaged 292 yards off the tee in R1 on Thursday. He ultimately missed the cut at the end of R2. By 4 strokes.

    Also, from the Athletic article:

But that doesn’t mean everything surrounding him isn’t still misfitting. He is technically not old enough to use Detroit Golf Club’s men’s locker room, though exceptions are made this week. He is not able to drive, let alone rent a car or check into a hotel alone. One group behind Russell’s, 36-year-old Rafael Campos played his round while ripping a few cigarettes — a vice that Russell can’t legally buy for another three years.

The co-leader, Akshay Bhatia, isn't big either at 130 lbs. but he is 6'1"

Joined the PGA Tour at age 17, played in the Walker Cup at age 17 and has won 2

    tournaments. Pretty impressive.

I'm pretty convinced that in windy conditions Akshay needs to have lead soles on his cleats so he doesn't get blown off the ball at address. Very nice kid though and he does indeed have impressive skill.

$500 at those courses seems totally fine for one-offs or special occasions (golf trips).

I don't golf much. Maybe others have different insights.

When I lived in Florida, the Air Force had a nice course that we paid based on or rank/GS level. A general might pay $75-100, an airman might pay $20.

But the other courses around there we went to were consistently $60-$80, and we would go at early bird times or when we could find deals.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie
