Cal Davis QB Jake Maier tops Craig Haley’s 2019 Top-10 QB watch list

    2018 Statistics: 364-for-557 (65.4 percent), 3,931 yards, 34 TDs, 10 INTs, 141.19 QB efficiency; 3 TDs rushing (13 games)

What to Know: Maier guided UC Davis to its best FCS season last year. He followed wide receiver Keelan Doss as the Big Sky Conference offensive player of the year, but in 2019 he will no longer be able to connect with the leading Division I pass catcher of the past two seasons. Originally a Sacred Heart commit intending to play on the other coast, the Long Beach City (Calif.) College transfer has a quick release and is accurate enough to throw into traffic. Despite the loss of Doss, a strong offense returns around Maier, who passed for more yards and touchdowns than any returning FCS signal-caller.

    Other names include:

    9. Ryan Boyle, Indiana State
    5. Eric Barriere, Eastern Washington

Was surprised to see Case Cookus of Northern Arizona on the list.
8th year senior or something like that
He has had injury problems, so hopefully his senior season is a healthy campaign.
Tom Flacco might be the most famous name on the list, “only” 6’ 1”, so is Joe’s little, younger brother.

It will be VERY interesting to see how we stack up against UC Davis. Obviously my money is on the Bison by 28+ but we will know how legit we are after that game.

Not saying that UC Davis is a perennial heavy weight, but they're a known commodity with a legit QB and I expect them to be in a similar post season situation as last year.
If we blow em out, we havent lost a step imo
    1. The FCS was the Best option for NDSU for a very long time.
    2. As a general rule- the FCS sucks at football and has proven that is not committed to football at all.
    3. It's time to go FBS

He was going to be a bowling ball for them too, that's too bad.

Butler is a great school in a great city so they have the potential to pick up some decent football players even though they are non-scholarship. It also makes them up and down and less depth than a scholarship FCS program, but on any given day the good pioneer teams can upset decent FCS teams. I don't expect this game to be that close, but it should still be fun! I'm sure the Butler players are going to love the experience.
