Men's team: Sophomore Tony Ukkelberg was kicking ass in the Decathlon but a devastating NH in POLE VAULT knocks him way back.

At 4:00 PM Central Time today, Payton Otterdahl will be throwing the discus at the Texas Relays in Austin.

He currently has the NCAA's 3rd best throw (196' 9") in this early part of the spring season.

Here's the fun part...……….Texas Tech's Eric Kicinski owns the best throw of 2019 (207' 10").

He will go against Otterdahl in this same meet.

Looks like only 1 flight. Payton is scheduled to be the 12th thrower while Kicinski throws 14th.

Abilene Christian's Josh Hunter, Kai Schmidt, and Morgan Knight are also competing at this meet. Hunter owns the 4th best throw (192' 7"), Schmidt is #5 (191' 4") and Knight is #8 (187' 9") coming into today.

South Dakota's Ben Hammer (#13 in the county with a best of 185' 3") will also be in this field of studs.

New PR for Payton in the discus (197' 5"). This happened immediately after he lost 2nd place to an Abilene Christian thrower. Rises up to the challenge! One throw left. The only thrower ahead of him is a non-collegiate.

    HOLY SHIT!

On their 6th and final throw, the dude from ACU pops a 198' 8" to RE-TAKE 2nd from Otter. Then, right after that, Eric Kicinski from Texas Tech (the nation's leader) steps up and launches a big ol' 198' 11"...….

    So, what does Payton do?

Unleashes a gigantic 201' 4" to pass them both to finish as the top collegiate!!

    What a frickin STUD!!!!!!

Obviously, a new school record and comes within 1 inch of moving into 2nd nationally. (for the season)
