“I really thought you had to run the football to control the game,” Erhardt once said. “You had to throw the football to score but had to run the football to win.” - Ron Erhardt
So no new news as far as recruiting goes?
Run the damn ball!! PRO FBS
Obviously getting kids with a certain amount of stars can mean they will be better players than others without stars. Does this always hold true, no based on the fact some kids are under recruited. Kids also develop differently and sometimes the players without as many stars or offers have a chip on their shoulder and come in and bust their ass and end up becoming a better player than someone who might have been better in high school. The coaches obviously know what type of player they want and it isn’t all about athletic ability. If you don’t know how to run routes or play our coverages you could be the best athlete and never see the field. We don’t just sign the guy cause he has a 3 star rating
Yeah... we've only built the most successful dynasty in NCAA history by doing what we do. We've never ever gone big on stars. We are a developmental program.
Keep in mind this is the ratings available on 24 7, so most of the guys like MJ Stumpf, Landon Lechler, Jack Plankers, Travis Beck Dudzik, Heagle, Ryan Smith, or Elsey Thornton were rated at all. Even guys like Zack Vraa, Leevon Perry, and Cole Jirek weren't big names by today's standards. Walk ons like Matt Biegler and Bryan Schaetz aren't even listed on most places

Join the Green and the Gold Collective to take Bison football to the next level. Starts at $10 a month
The Green and The Gold Collective is excited to announce our #DriveToFive membership campaign. The goal of this campaign is to get to 500 monthly members. Reaching this goal will help us provide financial support to NDSU student athletes, including every returning member of the football team that saw action on the field last year!

Question: When a kid has an NDSU offer (solid one), does his star ranking increase? Say he’s a no-star recruit and we offer, does he become a 1-star or better if he has another legit FCS power team offer?

And, don’t believe everything you think—jussayin’.
Liberals of BV need not respond to my posts. I don’t need to get any more dumb.
Quite possible.
Two recruits I was keeping an eye on for being possible Bison, Yahya Black and Mason Richman, both went up 2 stars, iirc, when they committed to Iowa. Recruiting services go back and review film on the player when they get such offers/commit hence the team knew "more" than the star services......
And on the FCS level, a NDSU offer could help improve a players rating e.g. from one star to 2.
I wouldn't doubt it. Like Herdbot's above post shows NDSU started getting a lot more 2 star commits around the 2015/2016 timeframe which I believe is with 247sports started BisonReport. Before then none of the national services covered Bison recruiting (although BisoNation.info did a great job before that). At the upper levels I know that star ratings depend almost entirely on who offers shows interest. Bama will never sign a less than 3* recruit because they're an automatic 3* (if not higher) the instant Bama offers them no matter what their rating was before that.
I don’t know the answer to the above question. I did just notice Cam Miller is now a 3 star recruit on 247 (previously a 2 I think). According to 247 he is our top recruit of all time in their rating system.
1) Cam Miller
2) Luke Weerts
3) Joe Stoffel
9) Trey
Just found it interesting
