Hopefully was just some bad sushi dufferole. On a brighter note, there is no cut this week and only three rounds, and she is not alone with a less than banner start as Lexi Thompson is also +3 and many other top players are also over par.

Amy maybe got the bad round out of the way on Friday and rolls from here. In any case, some solid golf would be a good tuneup for the Tour Championship in Florida in a couple weeks. And with a strong finish in Japan along with a great off week, Amy can hit Naples with her A game in place, and make a nice run at that $5 million dollars of prize money and $1.5 million dollar first place!!

    GoAmy...GoBison!!

Amy turned it around nicely today for a three under round to get to E for the event and T44. Nice pairing coming up on the final day includes Amy Olson and Gerina Piller, and although she probably has played with Gerina before, I can’t recall when. Gerina is one of the LPGA stars who has become a first time mom not too long ago, along with Suzann Pettersen, Brittany Lincicome, Christie Kerr, Stacy Lewis, and others! Congrats and all the best to all of them!

Weird statistics. Amy's 1st round in which she was 3 over , she took 27 putts but was 7 of 18 in G/R. In her 2nd round, which was 6 strokes better, she took 32 putts but was 16 of 18 in G/R.

Traditional golf stats like these are very course grained. The strokes gained numbers on the PGA are much better measures of actual skill in various parts of a player’s game.

It was deja vu all over again today dufferole. Two bogies and one double for a 76 leaves Amy at +4 for the TOTO Classic and T68. I’m thinking she got it all out of her system and Florida will be a very different story.

If you just look at it innocently though it makes some sense. 7 of 18 greens implies 11 “extra strokes” while 27 puts implies 9 “strokes saved” or +2, while her actual score was +3.

Similarly, 16 greens in regulation is 2 extra strokes to reach and 32 puts is 4 fewer to hole out summing to -2 compared to the -3 carded.

Congrats to Ai Suzuki on a huge win for her in the TOTO Classic and her likelihood of joining the LPGA now or in 2020!

That track must not agree with everyone, especially first timers, as Jaye Marie Green finished +13 and in dead last, having almost won a tournament just a few weeks ago. Many other world class players also struggled there.

Couple weeks to the CME Tour Champonship and a shot at 1.5 million dollars first place and $5 million total for the 60 best that women’s golf has to offer! May be time for a road trip for Amy’s Army El_Chapo!
