"Sometimes a concept is baffling not because it is profound but because it is wrong" E. O. Wilson
"I'm not crazy my mother had me tested". Sheldon Cooper
My boss hates it when I shorten his name to Dick, mainly because his name is Steven.
I too found this amusing so had to go look to see how many games opposition had scored over 40 points; 2016 EWU scored 44 (and lost 50-44), 2009 SHSU scored 48. Prior to that it is back to DII days in 2002 and UNO scored 49.
I am not a statistical expert but with this kind of sample size of 16 years in FCS and NDSU giving up 40+ points only twice and almost all EWU predictions in which they win they are predicting 40+ (and laughably 50+ (last time giving up 50...1958, UNO gave it a run at 49 in 1998 and 2002) it seems they are fighting an uphill battle. I know anything can happen in any game but I am glad that historical data is on our side.
Not too sure what to think after perusing some of the topics over there...Some of the topics are the same old "well, you have never seen a team like this one" and "probably never watched an EWU game or you'd know better". The same can probably be said in reverse because I doubt all that many people posting on the EWU board have spent much time watching Bison football. Good thing the game is played on the field, not message boards.
More disturbing topics regard the arrest of the lineman that kicked his brother into unconsciousness and the biggest worry seems to be: 1) is he playing in Frisco? 2) how does this hurt his NFL draft stock? The coach is apparently letting him practice and not taking a hard stance on the matter. Equally disturbing is the thread (albeit short) about whether or when players get drug tested. This should not even be crossing the minds of folks on a fan board unless this is a case of where there is smoke there is fire (see earlier statement regarding the lineman arrest for assault). Perhaps this was simply an innocent question after the number of Clemson players that got caught/suspended prior to their upcoming "playoff" game, but still seemed rather odd to me.
Same thing every year. We haven’t watch them really... they haven’t watched us. How do you really know. I think our track record proves that we come out on top in these scenarios more often than not. They may be improved this year but I have a tough time believing the team that we played earlier last year will be able to keep pace with this much improved team from a year ago as well.
I think they’ll put up a solid fight. I’m thinking SDSU type game as others have said.

Have we unleashed Lakes on their message board? Rhetorical question.
The only reason some people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.
