I agree. Every time I think the game will be closer because of that 2016 OT thriller in the FFD I remember that they don't have Cooper Kupp, a healthy Gage Gubrud, and we aren't running no stinking 3 down lineman crap on defense. See 2017 game in Cheney.

NDSU's only kryptonite on D seems to be a running QB. Taryn could have done a lot of damage in the semis but (wisely, imo) opted out.

So I think you are right that he opted out wisely. The reason he did so is that he is wise enough to know that his success would have been short lived and definitely not have materially impacted the game result IMHO.

EWU has been very generous with their allotment to NDSU and fans. Even today were still answering phone calls and making accomodations. Seriously. Heard nothing but positive feedback about their ticket office staff too (as long as tickets show up in Frisco - or that would be one of the ultimate troll jobs ever). Didn’t gouge, judge or deny anyone (looking at you SDSU). Honestly, props to them.
