Otterdahl's 71' 0" (21.64 meters) would have been enough for 2nd place at the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships.

Fantastic performance by the Otter. Throwers in general, just doing great - many deserve kudos though the Otter is the athlete of the moment.
Put some perspective on this (to add to what has already been said):
Best throw by collegiate men (indoors and outdoors) is 72' 2.25"
Best throw by collegiate men indoors (to repeat what others have said): 71' 3.5"
Best throw by all U.S. men indoors is 74' 4.25"
Best throw by all U.S. men outdoors is 75'

Big day for the SHOT PUT throwers for NDSU today:
Alex Talley (1st) 63' 5", Kristoffer Thomsen (2nd) 62' 0 1/4", Michael Keogan (3rd) 59' 2 3/4", and Trevor Otterdahl (4th) 56' 6" ALL PRd today.
Payton Otterdahl did not compete in the SHOT PUT today.
There are only 3 Division 1 Track & Field teams that currently have the top squad ranking in an event by both their women and men's teams. A "SQUAD RANKING" takes the top 4 performers in an event for a given school and averages their best performance numbers.
Texas Tech: Their MEN'S & WOMEN'S teams lead the country in LONG JUMP squad rank.
Texas A & M: Their MEN'S & WOMEN'S teams are at the top of the squad ranking in the 400 METER DASH.
North Dakota State: MEN'S & WOMEN'S teams lead the nation in the SHOT PUT squad rankings.
North Dakota State: MEN'S & WOMEN'S teams are the only teams in the NCAA that lead the country in 2 squad rankings. The WEIGHT THROW teams are also at the top of the list.

Husky Classic, Feb 8 and 9, 2019.
I am a little confused. Entry list shows throwers from NDSU entered into Weight Throw and Shot Put - both men and women.

Results from yesterday (Feb 8) show none of them competing.

It looks like they went somewhere else (or stayed home).
