I agree Hedberg would be the most surprising. Also, I think Hedberg was following Les Miles way before this week....like six months ago. at least I think that is what Gabe mentioned. I really hope we keep Randy.

I really think Stick has showed development especially this year that points to Randy's skill as a QB coach. I would love to see how good of a player Trey Lance could become after spending the next four years with him.

The level of talent on that team is Big 12 quality. His challenge will be merging his system with the system that exists and using the talent that was recruited to fit it. You bring in a 100% new system and the existing talent will struggle. Thsts why Gene probably wants to keep some coaches. Bill Snyders system doent need to be torn down. It was a great one. They had a bad year but it's a good program

BS: As we get into the details over the next few days, were there any stipulations put on Coach Klieman or any of the candidates for that matter about the current coaching staff retention?
GT: No there's not. As you go through this process, we have some really great assistants. All we told every candidate is look, we have some great staff. We encourage you to interview as many or all of them, whatever you feel your needs are, because obviously they have coaches they're familiar with and coaches that they've coached with or people they've worked with that are maybe at other institutions. But we never want to say you have to hire somebody, that puts that coach in a bad position and puts the assistants in a bad position if you think about it because they only want to work if they're wanted too. We did tell them here are our staff that we think would be great additions if you wanted to keep them but that's up to you as the head coach. There was never a stipulation on any, whether it was Coach Klieman or any of our candidates, and there were never any real financial issues. They knew exactly what the contract was going to be and those that were interested knew what our parameters were. People take jobs and don't get jobs for a lot of different reasons.

I agree with this. My take is that the UNT coach declined the offer because he couldn't bring his staff so there may be quite a few limitations to how many assistants Klieman can bring. In a way wouldn't it be wise for CK to keep a large bulk of the KSU staff intact to help with recruiting the schools/kids that they already had committed with the early signing period right around the corner? Otherwise he may have to start from scratch in an area that isn't exactly NDSU's footprint and unfamiliar with. I think that wouldn't be a wise start to the job going into the 2019 season.

It is a bad idea. Last year the AZ State AD didn't let Herm Edwards pick his coordinators. And they both left shortly after he was hired haha
