I think we're underdogs, and I do think Wyoming wins. There is a path to victory, but it is tough.
125- Fleetwood dec Verner, 3-0 NDSU. Verner is very solid, but with Fleetwood's early season results, he should be a 3-4 point favorite.
133- Bridges dec Sykora, 3-3. Sykora just lost a 1 point match to AA Montorie Bridges, and he can win this one. He hasn't been able to turn Bridges, which will likely lead to Bridges choosing bottom. This match, and dual, takes a dramatic shift if Cam can get 1 four point tilt.
141- Turner dec Sutton, 6-3 WYO. Turner is another borderline top 20 guy and this will be a tall task for Sutton. Sutton needs to wrestle smart and not put himself in bad positions where he can give up four near fall.
149- Jensen dec Van Maanen, 9-3 WYO. If we are to win this dual, we have to have this one. Van Maanen has been too inconsistent for me to pick him thus far though.
157- Krueger dec Knutson, 12-3 WYO. Krueger should win by a decent margin.
165- Ashworth dec Fogarty, 15-3 WYO. Match #6 between these two and Fogarty will be looking to even the series up. Ashworth has been more consistent between the two of them and Fogarty wasn't healthy enough for CKLV, which is why I'm going with Ashworth.
174- De La Riva dec Hastings, 15-6 WYO. Hastings just beat De La Riva by 1 point and I'm Lorenzo can reverse that result.
184- Looney dec McNutt, 18-6 WYO. McNutt can win this, but he hasn't shown much lately to instill confidence in picking him.
197- Eaton dec Davidson, 18-9 WYO. Eaton has taken a big step forward thus far this year and I think he wins a hard fought match here.
HWT- Metz dec Andrews, 18-12 WYO. Two solid young heavyweights, but I like Metz if he fires off a quality leg attack. He's capable, it's just a matter of timing it and committing to it.
133, 149, 165, 174, 184, 197, and HWT all could go either way IMO. If NDSU shows up, they can win this.
125 Fleetwood Maj Dec (4-0)
133 Bridges Dec (4-3)
141 Turner Dec (4-6)
149 Van Mannen Dec (7-6)
157 Kruger Dec (7-9)
165 Fogerty Dec (10-9)
174 De La Riva Dec (13-9)
184 Looney Dec (13-12)
197 Eaton Dec (16-12)
HWT Metz Pin ( 22-12)
Bison fans are blessed. Enjoy it.
Dual will start at 197, so we'll get two very good/important matches right out of the gate.
197 is one of the weights that could go either way, but we're a slight favorite.
I'm probably going to yell at Ethan Kyle (head Wyoming assistant) through my computer several times tonight.
Here we go
Eaton with two very good shots early, but he can't finish.
Great arm drag by Davidson and Cordell reacts just quick enough to not touch and give up the takedown.
Both guys with missed opportunities.
Eaton locks up a cradle off of a re-attack to get a late takedown and he leads 2-1 after the first. Davidson escaped with 2 seconds left
Davidson notably longer than Cordell.
Davidson rides out in the second behind some strong leg riding.
Eaton leads 2-1 after two but Davidson has RT too.
Davidson starts on bottom
Davidson reversal but Eaton escapes. 3-3 but Davidson leads with his riding time,
Davidson wins 6-3. Bad start for NDSU.
Wonder if the elevation is a little factor as Cordell looked gassed in the third and that is atypical for him.
