1. Anderson is a freak. He’d start somewhere. Not QB but LB or WR maybe if he can catch?
2. I’d say the top 4 or 5 best teams each have about 4 or 5 guys that likely would start for us. Most teams I’d guess average around 2 dudes that would.
3. So if we played EWU’s offense, they upgrade o line and add the best WR in the country. Then play Weber’s D and they can cherry pick 3-4 guys where they’re weakest. Plus they get the best ST guys? They certainly SHOULD beat us, but I would not count the Bison out.
I dont think the pure talent gap is a large as some people want to believe thats not to say NDSU doesnt have some of the more talented players in FCS
NDSU is one of the places where the "whole is better than the sum of its parts" really applies I think. This is evident in the fact that not one player really carries the team all year long like on some teams. Rather they take turns game to game depending on the opponent and the matchups.
Also I think its fair be a tad hesitant about how good next years team will be. Stick does so much for this offense that doesnt show up in the stat line so it is hard to quantify. I mean watch any other college football game. The QB does his "clap" then looks to the sideline for the adjustment/audible. That just doesnt happen with Stick he makes the adjustments himself
It's not all about who has more talent. Most FCS teams have tons of talent. It's about who had the most talented players for the system you run. Who is mentally sharper and prepared better, who is fundamentally sound, who executes, and who is hungry. We obviously have talent, but it fits what we do perfectly and the players execute great game plans
