I think Larsen is heavily influenced by the general sentiment shared by many that Basketball should never be prioritized in any way over Football. Thus we get an average coach, with average resources producing expected results. Thus justifying the decision to not fund the basketball program at a higher level because they haven't shown themselves worthy of increased investment. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
