Or win the league so that you are at least guaranteed the NIT. We should get to the point where we always expect to play in the post-season. The fact that "just win the tourney" was thrown out there on 1660 tells me that our sports journalists are not honest brokers when it comes to discussing men's basketball. I guess that's not surprising. But really? That's where we are at? Even our sports talk shows are telling us the season doesn't matter. Judas priest.

Can one of you MBB gurus tell me why Richman isn’t “available” for halftime interviews and sends an assistant to do it?? Also, assistant on 1660 tonight too, no Richman ... and the kissing ass on Indiana State and Indiana BB is almost throw-up radio. And excuses for loss and how this team needs to do this and that and motivation at tip-off isn’t there, etc. and on and on ....

Good effing God! CULTURE?!?!!! There is zero culture. What I’m hearing reminds me off soccer. Just pathetic.

Cant remember the last coach that did a halftime interview...in hoops that typically goes to the lead assistant.

Well, it’s bullshit. Be different and don’t act sooo important. And “important” is how I feel Richman feels about himself.

And to listen to Veasley is just embarrassing to NDSU. If his tone is Richman’s/NDSU’s MBB team, then I now know better about why this team plays the way they do and the “culture” of the program.

I had a chance to watch a pre-season practice, and I was not impressed with what I saw with Richman.

We will get boat-raced by ETSU this weekend. It won’t be a close game .... at home.

Did we just become best friends?

Also, let’s take a pool on which player Richman deflects accountability towards as the “disrupter” this year?

Whether it's Geu, Kabellis, or Dupree (who did come back later). It's like we invest time into players who either peak as a sophomore like AJ, we lose players too late who should have left sooner, or lose players to transfers.
Dont worry the rules committee is slowly making it more like the NBA every year

Richman is never out on the court during warmups either. I guess he is in the locker room drawing up which 3 guys he wants to run the weave offense. The lack of on the fly adjustments with him is unbelievable. Once in a while you will see something different in the second half but not that much. It worked early in the year to go small ball a couple of times and it worked out. But god forbid we would try and go big sometime too. The minutes certain players get is over others is head scratching too. I would agree with you on the "culture" aspect with the team. There is none.

He may come off that way on camera and on the court, but I don't think that's true. My wife sat next to him on a flight. During the course of conversation she found out he was an NDSU coach and they talked a little about basketball. But she didn't realize he was the head coach until weeks later when watching a game. He was personable.

That said, I do agree that the program is headed in the wrong direction. I haven't watched a full game this year, but what I have watched there has been almost no inside game. The athleticism just isn't there and the team isn't much fun to watch. Dave doesn't seem to have the same ability as Tim and Saul in attracting recruits.

Yep, recruiting is the big problem I see with the Richman regime. People rag on him for not being a very good Xs and Os but neither was Saul. The difference was Saul was a great recruiter... Bjorklund, Braun, Wright, LA, Kory Brown, Dex… even guys like Dupree and Paul Miller who had their character flaws (and clashed with Richman because of it) but had plenty of talent. Since Richman has taken over who's been his most successful recruit? Vinnie Shahid maybe? Tyson Ward? Who's Richman's best big man recruit? Rocky Kreuser? That's about it. Just a different level of player in general that each coach brought in.
