Because they don't that they don't know. Without that self awareness You speak as if you are knowledgeable about a subject. Everyone does that in their own situations. I don't get upset about it because they aren't doing it maliciously. Someone like Collinsworth tries to understand and explain rules but he's still wrong sometimes. It seems as if replay has caused everyone to be experts though and everyone has to have an opinion. Watch a game from pre-replay days and it's interesting how different they cover close or controversial plays. They may make a quick comment like, "well I think the official may have missed that one" but then they move on. They don't create drama around it. I think it's as much a societal thing also thanks to social media and talk radio. Everyone has to have an opinion and the other opinion is wrong.
Just finished watching the Delaware-JMU game. First, I want my money back, even though I watched it for free. Somehow, people should be paid to watch something that bad (like The Room bad). Being that this was the only game that included a CAA winner this past weekend, how the heck to they keep claiming they're the toughest, best, etc. conference in the FCS? No way they deserved getting that many teams in the playoffs. Second, I'm extremely confident Indiana State would have beaten Delaware and possibly could have upset JMU at their own place. Lastly, why were there so many complaints here about Delaware being penalize so much compared to JMU? I thought the officiating wasn't too bad, but JMU got penalized eleven times (95 yards) to Delaware's five (49 yards).
I expect JMU's game at Colgate this weekend to be fairly ugly to watch too, but this time the opposing QB won't nearly be as incompetent.

The two main complaints that I saw from Delaware's perspective was the targeting call (which was correct - the rule is you can't lead with the crown of your helmet no matter whether the hit lands to the head/neck area or not regardless what the bewildered color commentator thought) and the personal foul on the younger Reeder (#4) when Dinucci scrambled and went down awkwardly (I do agree that was a bogus personal foul but at least they didn't call it targeting again which is what the replay official appeared to be judging when they reviewed the play).
Delaware also got some pretty beneficial calls though too. The biggest two off the top of my head were the horrible PI call on Moreland that negated his INT and the bad spot on Dinucci's scramble when he went into a slide (at least I think the spot was bad - they didn't replay it and I didn't go back to look but even if they marked him where his slide started, which is what they're supposed to do, he should've had the 1st down I thought).
I’m OK with their 6 in a vacuum, but not in a world where Southland and MVFC both get 3. As a Sagarin purist I would have distributed the at large bids MVFC 6, CAA 5, Big Sky 2, Southern 1 (they picked the wrong Southern team BTW). IW, ETSU, and Lamar were terrible selections.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. It's not how many they got in the playoffs that bothers me that much, but how much they credit they get for being THE conference of the FCS. I'm not sure when they jumped ahead of the MVFC, but even writers give them credit was being the best. As far as I'm concern, they're a decent FCS conference that has had one team do pretty good the past two years. That's it, nothing more.

You have to give them credit, take NDSU out of the MVFC equation and the CAA has had more success in the playoffs. Richmond, UNH, JMU, Towson and Villanova have all done well over the last decade.....just not against NDSU. It really was a crime we got three teams and they got 6(!). That won't happen next year, I hope. But the MVFC, other than NDSU, needs to perform better in the playoffs. Lookin at you UNI.
