    Default The Freshman 4 - 2018 Edition

Thought it'd be useful to start a thread that tracks how many games the true freshman participate in. That way we can see how close they are to burning their redshirts as they reach the magic number 4. I'll update the OP with running totals for the year and make a new post for each game with a list of freshman who played. Feel free to point out any errors or discuss the freshman players and anything related.

    Phoenix Sproles 15
    James Kaczor 12
    Destin Talbert 11
    Jasir Cox 10
    Saybein Clark 4
    Tony Pierce Jr. 3
    Mark Stumpf 2
    Trey Lance 2
    Zach Mathis 1
    *Dimitri Williams 4
    *Logan McCormick 4
    *Seth Wilson 4

    * Non-Freshman with possibility of redshirting

Completed for Season including playoffs and championship game.

    Cal Poly:

    Phoenix Sproles
    James Kaczor
    Jasir Cox

Sounds like Sproles and Kaczor are expected to play all 11 games already.

Channelle was called out by the broadcast, as was Stumpf, I also saw Tony Pierce Jr, Trey Lance (obvious) and Talbert.

So far biggest splash has been Trey Lance. Definitely looks to have the build and wheels of a D1 player as a true freshman.

I would assume our offense at the beginning of next year will look very similar to what it did when Easton took over for Carson after his injury in 2015.

Obviously an incredibly small sample size but his lone throw did look good. Good footwork, on time, on target, and good velocity... he's got a long ways to go I'm sure but this game certainly had to be a good building block.

Odd that James Kaczor didn't get into the game today. Didn't hear about him being injured.

My way too early freshman predictions for next year... Trey Lance starts at QB and Saybein Clark is a big part of the RB rotation.

I heard Klieman say in a presser that Mark Stumpf has played all 3 games. When I check the participation charts in the Box scores he doesn't show up for the Cal Poly game:

    https://gobison.com/boxscore.aspx?path=football&id=7414

Anyone know if I heard that wrong or Klieman was mistaken, or if the box score page is inaccurate?

*edit: States on the players' roster pages match up with my totals, so pretty sure I either either heard Klieman wrong or he mispoke. If anyone knows differently and Stumpf played again Cal Poly let me know.
