This design is a strange collection of forms and planes coming together in odd ways. It is a weird, non-nonsensical design if you ask me. They're trying too hard to be edgy and whimsical with parts of the building but it just doesn't work at all. In other parts of the building, they aren't really trying at all. I am certain that NDSU could save a bunch of money and have a much better, more coherently designed building if they told the architect to start over. Just crumble up that first draft that the intern did and give it another go.
Insert something clever here...
Don't you know an architect in OR that can go under the influence with some of the newly legal substances and come up with an ultra modern Oregon-esque design? That would be really cool. Rectangles are just far too cost effective!

Rectangles ARE cost effective! And why would we want windows that showcase anything? Stick to the SHAC design cues...put a bunch of glass that faces the street and then put a concession stand in front of those windows (or maybe some bathrooms) so that people don't want to look into those windows as they drive by.
Its a 40 million dollar eyesore. Whoever designed this deserves to have their mother slapped
How about putting the nice part of the building in the front and moving it closer to University and then put the practice field and ugly part behind it? That way the players can practice outside with a bit more privacy and the public going down University can look at an impressive glass entrance and a massive building. Sounds a little more big time

Fundraising might pick up if it looked like this.
It's OK to not be OK.
Thank you. Honestly I know very little about it but I know what looks good
If we're ever going to move up, we need to have something that is impressive as hell. Something that looks big time from the outside. Something that would make MAC schools be envious, not that's good enough. Something that makes a future stud athlete think holy fuck that's big time. In my idealistic world, that would involve a skyway from the Shac and then a skyway to the dome.
