    Good story. Bad headline.

We all live in stories... It seems to me that a definition of any living vibrant society is that you constantly question those stories... The argument itself is freedom. It's not that you come to a conclusion about it. Through that argument you change your mind sometimes... That's how societies grow. When you can't retell for yourself the stories of your life then you live in a prison... Somebody else controls the story. - S. Rushdie

This is great timing for me. I had an over zealous Wisconsin fan staying at our hunting shack this past weekend. He is a friend of a friend and doesn't know me well. Despite our shack being covered in Bison paraphernalia he kept talking about NDSU being a good fit for a kid from his hometown because he wasn't talented enough to play at Wisconsin. Needless to say I damn near killed the poor soul. My wife printed this article off just in case this typically arrogant badger fan stops by again. I swear that we'd win the Big Ten west this year.

    verb:*poll; 3rd person present:*polls; past tense:*polled; past participle:*polled; gerund or present participle:*polling

    1.

record the opinion or vote of.

"focus groups in which customers are polled about merchandise preferences"

    synonyms:canvass,*survey,*ask,*question,*interview ,*ballot

"most of those polled supported the vice president"

(of a candidate in an election) receive a specified number of votes.

"the Green candidate polled 3.6 percent"

    synonyms:get,*gain,*register,*record,*return

    "she polled 119 votes"

    ******TELECOMMUNICATIONS•COMPUTING

check the status of (a measuring device, part of a computer, or a node in a network), especially as part of a repeated cycle.*******

Using the telecommunications-computing definition I can see why poll may be acceptable here

Only to 23. Almost feels like that should be purple, but I was hoping to see the Bison crack the top 20 with all of yesterday's scoring. Sagarin's recent is 17, so that's some consolation, for those of us who care.

    REMARKABLE:

At the close of the regular season; 2 Missouri Valley teams with 5 losses are in the top 100.

    Northern Iowa (#90) 6-5.
    Illinois State (#98) 6-5.
