....yes....by accident of course...not sure of the exact circumstances.

I seem to recall it had to do with the outdoors show he hosted for a while. That is what made it all the better for heckling by students at football games.

One of the best chants/taunts ever: "Ed shot his dog, Ed shot his dog..."

Love him or hate him he did a hell of a job as a football play by play guy in my opinion.

    Condolences to the family.

He probably shot the dog in a accident, but the fact that he had such a temper led to a lot of rumors and speculation. In addition to the famous bottle throwing incident, while covering high school playoff basketball, he went into the stands to confront high school students for something they did. Couldn't do that today with the world of cell phone video, without likely losing your job.

For sports (at least for me), he was very entertaining to watch and listen to.

Reading about Eddie reminded me of sitting in the stands and yelling "Ed Schultz sucks" to see if we could get him to slam his window shut. RIP.

One of my best memories is being in the NDSU press box covering a high school game and hearing Jim Adelson tell stories (he may have already been retired at that time). Growing up in a small town, hearing Adelson name your school on-air was a big deal.
