Being a good defensive coordinator and a good head coach are two totally different skillsets. Yes, his defensive prowess is a reason why we have been successful, but there is so much more to it. Many great position coaches and coordinators have failed in the head job because it's a different skillset. It's more of a CEO/manager role. There was no guarantee he'd be a great head coach.
I'm not arguing his defensive chops, but that's not what made him a great head coach.
