Must be a game farm of some sort as there are a lot of hens mixed in there.

In England they dont have game farms like we do. Here they go out and plant birds when you arrive to hunt. In England they have professional gamekeepers. They manage all of the predators on these large tracks of land with woodlots. Some time in early spring they plant adults and chicks in the woodlots where they grow in a natural habitat. For the hunt they have loaders for your shotgun. They pass you a fully loaded gun and then load the empty one. There are beaters who go through the brush and woods with some type of noise making device pushing the birds to you. Then there are the dog handlers and more support personel to transport the birds to coolers and people who clean the birds etc etc etc. At the end of the season when my buddy was there they want to get rid of as many birds as possible before the winter kicks in so they dont have to feed and maintain them. So when they had the day when they shot 512 they didnt have to pay for any over birds. All of the birds are either consumed at the lodge and or sold to the local restaurants.
Its really quite an operation where they clean your boots after a day in the field to people who grade on how much fun you are having and grading you on how well you shoot. The average is 1.5 birds for every 4 shots. My buddies group avg 2.5 birds for every 3-4 shots.

He said the food was phenomenal as well.

My sister lived for a year or two in Alabama. When she got there someone asked, "Are you ready for winters here?" My sister responded, "I think so. Why?" They said, "Because it gets cold here." She asked, "How cold?" One of them said, "It can get into the 40's at night." She said, "I'm from North Dakota. I'm not impressed."
