Default NDSU rugby playing on Saturday

Thought some folks might be interested in checking out the rugby team on Saturday, a few games during the day that mostly intersect with spring game/tailgate time but there are a few opportunities to go scope the Lost Boys out.

NDSU playing at 10:20, 11:40, 1:20 and the final, if the guys are in it, is at 4:20, if I'm reading the document correctly. The team's done pretty well this season including a 47-0 win over UND and a 38-0 win over SDSU.

They'd sure appreciate some folks stopping out to take a look at the team, so if you get a few minutes during tailgate, swing over to the rugby fields on the west terminator of 18th avenue!

Also, the team had some photos taken so if you're looking for some random Bison swag for a man cave or whatever, they're available for purchase at haugenphoto.com.

Bumping an old thread. Home match on Saturday against St. Cloud State, with a 1pm kick-off. If you don't have tickets to the FB game, just tailgate like normal and then walk over to this instead. You could probably just bring your cooler with you and keep right on tailgating.

We are #3 in the country in DII, beating UND 74-5 last Saturday. When asked in the post game presser if he felt he ran up the score, the coach replied "because UND."

Still at #3 in the country. Pretty varied mix of NCAA DI, DII and DIII sports programs that make up the club rugby DII top 25. There is even a community college in there -- Iowa Central. Iowa Central rugby is a full varsity program, not a club sport like everyone else in the list.

The boys are doing very well, and prepping for the final Round of 16 and 8 to take place next weekend. They were thrown for a bit of a loop, and ended up getting sent to the east regional in North Carolina instead the drivable regional in Missouri. If they advance out of that weekend, they will have to return to North Carolina the 1st weekend of December for the Final 4.

There is obviously a huge financial commitment with sending 25-30 rugby players to North Carolina (possibly twice in 2 weeks), so they are fund-raising like crazy to make this work. The GoFundMe link is provided below, along with their FaceBook page. Help them out if you feel so inclined -- every little bit helps.

Just made a small donation. One of The Lost Boys (Hunter Tran) is the son of a guy that comes to my watch parties quite a bit.

I read through the bios of some of the guys on the FaceBook page. Farm kids, city kids, local kids, not-so-local (like Hunter) -- all doing their best to represent NDSU.

More than happy to help out.
