Yes. Nobody would like you and everybody would move away as far as they could. That shit stinks up any building it's cooked in even if it was served a month ago.

It can give you the Black $h!ts. Lutefisk eaters must belong to the disease of the year club on the plains.

I agree! I got sick for 3 days after eating lutefisk as a kid and I can't eat any seafood to this day. Even the Food Network guy who eats gross foods from around the world couldn't stand the stuff.

Most of the traditional ethnic foods in North Dakota have either Scandinavian or German roots. A lot of the Scandinavian stuff is pretty bland and based on flour, milk, potatoes, and various whitefish. Not a lot of folks still eat much of that sort of thing anymore but there are exceptions (church suppers will have lutefisk and lefse in the sort of manner that more southern churches have chicken noodle. However, chicken noodle is good as is lefse). There are pretty good German-style sausages that are made in a couple of small towns (many a debate has existed on this board about the merits of Wishek vs Langdon/Munich sausage). Fried walleye is a ND/MN favorite that really doesn't exist beyond southern Minnesota or Wisconsin.

Fresh wood-chipper stew. Although to be totally truthful that is really more of a Minnesota thing.

Pro tip - remove the sweat socks prior to chipping unless they have been very recently laundered as they can impart an off flavor and/or odor not unlike... Lutefisk.

I rode Harley down there and rode the blue ridge parkway a couple summers ago and stayed in Harrisonbug. Did the Tail, jack daniels brewery. Beautiful area all of it. I didn't see any ham. Our limited similarities end there. GO BISON KHCO
