If we concentrated on the really important stuff in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles"
When you play football, you gotta like the taste of blood, And 50 percent of the time, it's your blood.
It is characteristic of the unlearned that they are forever proposing something which is old, and because it has recently come to their own attention, supposing it to be new.

Join the Green and the Gold Collective to take Bison football to the next level. Starts at $10 a month
The Green and The Gold Collective is excited to announce our #DriveToFive membership campaign. The goal of this campaign is to get to 500 monthly members. Reaching this goal will help us provide financial support to NDSU student athletes, including every returning member of the football team that saw action on the field last year!

NDSUs game will be to try and save as many kids for the playoffs as possible. It could add a few extra impact players every year right when they are needed most (thinking special teams mostly - to allow for extra rest of some starters).

4 games now? Did I just dream they originally were thinking 3? Either way I think it might be a good idea.
What does this do the the advantage teams like NDSU have with their already deeper talent? I know NDSU gets to benefit from it too but one could argue that teams that year over year have less depth will benefit more than a team like NDSU that has good depth without this rule.
Has to be nice for the kids who get to keep a year of eligibility if their team needs to call their number late in the year due to injuries.
But remember that it really only helps the teams that have these red shirt freshmen developed enough to play 3 or 4 games. If they aren't ready and get thrown into the fire, it turns into a dumpster fire. I'm thinking this helps us more than it helps most of the other teams. We develop depth and should have all kinds of guys ready to play by the end of the season. I'm a go for it.
