The fact that NDSU is a Land Grant University is a big deal... the only other Land Grant Universities in the FCS are SDSU, Montana State, Delaware, UNH, Rhode Island, and Maine... those are peer universities.

Putting this into a different perspective, universities such as Illinois-Champaign Urbana, Wisconsin-Madison, Auburn, MIT, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas State are also land grant universities. The resulting excellence of graduates from any university is ultimately the responsibility of the individual not the institution. I, too, graduated from the College of Engineering and can say firsthand that NDSU engineering grads are at least equal to those produced anywhere, including the Ivy League schools.

MIT isn’t the land grant in Maryland, the University of Maryland is but everything else you stated is correct.

By definition, it is. It was created using resources from the Morrill Act.

According to info from Library of Congress, MIT was founded (maybe funded is a better word) under the Morrill Land Grant Colleges. Unless the various sources are fibbing, MIT would be considered a land grant university even if they no longer desire such association.

My original point pretty much stands. They can't be compared. I saw the post that was mentioned on the JMU site. I don't really know what the argument on AGS is but yeah, they are completely different animals.
