2017 Quarters vs Wofford

I just had the rube'est of rube moments in my life.

Had lunch at the Hotel Motel Holiday Inn, and as we were leaving saw quite a few people wearing Wofford gear. I wanted to welcome them to Fargo and talk a little football/tailgating with someone from the other side, so I walked up to guy and asked him something like "Hi! Are you part of the team or just up here as a fan?"

His reply was "Well, I am the head coach." I was more than slightly embarrassed.

What followed was a 2-3 minute discussion of them knowing what they are up against, what a HUGE impact our fans have in the FargoDome, and how much I enjoy watching option football ran to perfection. He fully expects the physicality to match/exceed what both teams saw in the 2012 match-up ("coach speak").

Bad news: I confirmed that I am a complete dork (but you guys already knew that).
Good news: We know where to go for a 2am "fire alarm check."

Well we couldn't run the ball against SDSU, a team we should have had no problem rolling up huge yardage on, so the possibility of not showing up against a solid defense is going to be there. What it looks like is Wofford wins close games and they keep the games ugly. We need to be careful, be patient and grind it out. I just hope Mess doesn't run it 3 times then give up and go shotgun crazy and have Stick chuck it all over.

And then many of the passes weren't high percentage passes, but long bombs....when only 8 or 9 yards were needed for a 1st.

Recalling the glory days of the great Bison option offenses of the 80s, and reading this thread, it sounds like the keys to the game will be:

1. Offense wins time of possession, which helps to
2. Keep the defense fresh, especially the
3. Linebackers who need to keep their assignments, and
4. Nail their QB on every stinking down.
