    Dont get that one either.

It is characteristic of the unlearned that they are forever proposing something which is old, and because it has recently come to their own attention, supposing it to be new.

I think that's the best time to take a shot downfield. If you're dominating them on the ground it's basically a free down since you should be able to pick up the first on 3rd down.

Of course you still can't turn it over or take a sack.

Exactly. If you are confident that you can pick up a first down on 3rd down, second and short is the best time to throw the ball. If you do nothing but run, you become predictable and you gain atrophy in your passing game...which will be fatal when you eventually play against a good runstopping defense that isn't worried about your QB air game bailing you out. There's no better passing down than 2nd and short in my opinion.
    Insert something clever here...

But do it out of play-action from under center. Make D at least think run.

Wasn't the first td off of play-action from shot gun? Was a pretty good play!
